Kusudama Headband

is back doing Creative Craft Challenges, and until the new year they're doing something a bit new called 'The Challenge You Missed' where they're going back over all the old challenges they've done since the start and opening them back up. I think this is a smashing idea, especially since we joined the group only back in August when we started. So we're trying as many of these as we can!

This particular one is for the 'paper flowers' challenge. I've folded kusudama balls before, but for how fragile they are and how much time, effort and glue on my fingers was involved I threw the idea out the window. However, both Lilith and I agreed that the individual flowers or even the petals might be good for something, so when kusudama flowers was on the list of tutorials I began thinking. My original idea was to put them on a hairpin, but when I saw that we had some headbands leftover from buying them to put a leaf crown on for our Renaissance Festival costumes I decided that it would be a better idea to put them there.

The gem was kind of an afterthought since the flower looked a bit lonely on its own, and that was how this head band was born. However, please note that at this time these are not for sale because it was simply an experiment and would be far to fragile to ship at present. Maybe in the future, though.
